Asicoach Tips & Tricks

Learn here how to get the most out of your asicoach account. We have listed some valuable tips for athlete's, coaches and team administrators. Check it out.

Go to your settings first

First thing you should do when you log in for the first time is go to your settings. Make sure everything is set up right. One of the most important options is the first item located under professional info. There you have to choose the number of columns you want in the diary. If you are just a runner and running is all you do, only check that box. You have to decide that if you occasionaly practice another sport like swimming if you want to show that sport/column. We personaly don't like empty cels. It you lift weights just in the winter you can remove that column in the summer without loosing your data.  View screenshot

Fill in as much information as you need

When you record a (un)planned session the distance and duration is mandatory. All the rest however is optional. Use the remarks box to add information you and your coach find valuable such as feeling, average heart rate and/or power. Use the checkboxes underneath to create great statistics about your training. Make it a habbit by checking always the required box(es). How many % did I ride my TT-bike the last 6 weeks before the ironman ? How many % of my total training time did I train alone and in group ? Check the boxes and it's easy to find out!

Do you train in group or alone ?

Use the checkboxes underneath the remarks when you record a session. Check masters ( for swimming ) or group ride/run for running and cycling when you had company on your training session. If only one person was with you, that still counts as a group session ! Now you can go to your detailed stats and check out how many % you train alone or with company.

Optimizing you avatar

If you want your avatar to look good, make sure that it is a square picture. You can use drpic  for cropping a part of your image and then resizing it.

Plan versus actual

When you record a planned session, don't forget to change the numbers when you did more or less. Use the remarks field to note what you did extra and then adjust the duration and distance. A trick is when you write a plan to always start the remarks repeating the distance or duration. Then you can quickly see if you did less or more.

Using the meso upload function

- for coaches / team admins

Meso uploading a multiple days program for a single athlete ( or more ) is a feature that only coaches can use. It is a very fast and efficient way of letting your athletes know what to do. Create a csv file in either excel or openoffice and upload it to asicoach. This is also the only way to program a "flexible training" session. A flexible training session is a session with no specific date, only a specific week is set. The athlete can choose any day of that specific week to execute the session. He just has to drag and drop the session in the appropiate cel. This is handy for people with no regular life.
You can combine multiple csv files to upload with all your athletes. For instance you can upload a swim csv file with only flexible sessions to all your athletes. Then you can create indiviual csv files for running and cycling.

Having your own database

- for coaches / team admins

You can create a simple excel or openoffice sheet ( it does not have to be a csv file ) with all your favorite sessions. So it makes creating a training plan must faster. In Excel hold down ctrl and press c twice. The copyboard will then open on the right of your screen. Copy the cells you are about to use and they will all appear on the copyboard. Now you can enter very fast your favorite session(s) into the desired cels. In openoffice a handy tool is to hold down your right mouse button and select selection list. Now you can choose a session of that specific column.  View screenshot

Using the remarks

- for coaches / team admins

When you plan a session start the training session remark with the planned distance or duration. Then when an athlete extended or shortened the session and he changes the duration and distance fields, you can quickly see how much more or less.

Use the mass meso upload function

- for coaches / team admins

You as a team admin can upload different training schedules. Use the comments for team mates box to give as much information as possible to inform your members what the plan is about. That way your signed up members can decide if they will upload the plan or not. If you upload the daily training plan for a training camp in Mallorca in march 2009 people who will attend that camp will accept your plan, while others will not. If you use the mass meso as a coach, all your coached athletes will receive that training plan without having to accept or decline.

Execution Rate

- for coaches / team admins

Put the display value to "plan execution" in the weeks stats and check out if your athlete(s) did what you told them to do. You can also see this in the detailed stats. If an athlete completed 7 out of 10 planned sessions, he gets a 70% execution rate.  View screenshot
