Asicoach The meso upload for coaches and team admins

Asicoach is designed so that a manual is not needed. The only thing however that does need some explanation and where some issues might occur is the meso upload function. Please give it a try and if some problems might occur contact us at support@asicoach.com

First thing to do

Please download and save this csv-file on your computer or usb device. Do not try to create a file on your own, this will not work. You can ofcourse save this downloaded file as and give it another name and then open and edit that file.
Then decide which spreadsheet program you are going to use to create your schedules with. Either use the free openoffice.org or windows excel. If you travel alot and use multiple computers, we recommend to use a usb device with installed the free portable version of openoffice.org.

Openoffice.org

Due to the nature of a csv file all your settings are always removed when you exit the spreadsheet program and you need to set them correctly each time. So you have to set the colomn width and aligment always when you start creating your plans each time again. Try it a few times and you will do it automaticly. Follow these steps to open and edit and you will have no problems :

1. Set the Character set to UNICODE (UTF-8)
2. Change the separator options from comma to semicolon

3. start with moving the cursor to the top of column D. Hold down right mouse button and select column width. Set to about 15-20 cm.
4. Then move the cursor again to the top of this column in cel D. Hold down right mouse button and select format cell. Choose alignment and then check the box wrap text automaticly. If you do not do this, the text in this column will overlap the columns to the right.

Office Excel

The first thing you should do is check if you are using the latest version of excel. You can upgrade your version by clicking "check for updates" under the help tab in your version of excel. Download service pack 1 for office 2007 and install it.
Due to the nature of csv files all your settings will be removed when you close. So you have to set the colomn width and aligment always when you start creating your plans each time again. Try it a few times and you will do it automaticly.

1. It should just normally open without doing anything.
2. Place the cursor on the separation of column D and E and hold down left mouse button and drag this colomn to the width you like.
3. Then move the cursor again to the top of this column in cel D. Hold down right mouse button and select format cells. Choose alignment and then check the box wrap text automaticly. If you do not do this, the text in this column will overlap the columns to the right.

Useful editing tips

TIP : fill in duration OR distance and not both. That way an athlete can not get disappointed if he fails his target (that is just an estimate anyway ).
TIP : If you want to go to the next line in one cel of the csv-file hold down -alt gr- and press enter ( openoffice ) or hold down -alt- and press enter ( excel )

Plan versus actual

A trick is when you write a plan (csv-file) to always start the remarks repeating the distance or duration. Then you can quickly see if your athlete did less or more.

Having your own database

You can create a simple excel or openoffice sheet ( it does not have to be a csv file ) with all your favorite sessions. So it makes creating a training plan must faster. In Excel hold down ctrl and press c twice. The copyboard will then open on the right of your screen. Copy the cells you are about to use and they will all appear on the copyboard. Now you can enter very fast your favorite session(s) into the desired cels. In openoffice a handy tool is to hold down your right mouse button and select selection list. Now you can choose a session of that specific column.  View screenshot  and here's another

Use the mass meso upload function

You as a team admin can upload different training schedules. Go to your settings - pick a plan and you will see space to upload a csv-file. Use the comments for team mates box to give as much information as possible to inform your members what the plan is about. That way your signed up members can decide if they will upload the plan or not. If you upload the daily training plan for a training camp in Mallorca in march 2009 people who will attend that camp will accept your plan, while others will not. Your members will have to go to his/her settings - pick a plan and accept or decline the file.
